Legislative Update 2/6/15

Attached please find the legislative update for the week of February 2nd-6th, 2015. To view any bill in its entirety, log on to www.scstatehouse.gov and do a “Quick Search” using the bill number.

H3145 (Civil Liability)- The House LCI Committee met Tuesday afternoon to discuss this bill.  The bill was presented to the Committee as amended by the Subcommittee to include “or a vulnerable adult” into the language. The LCI committee unanimously voted this bill out favorable as amended.  This bill was then placed on the Senate calendar and given second reading on Thursday, February 5th. It should received third reading on Tuesday and then be sent over to the House for their consideration.

H3374(LGF)- The House Ways and Means local government subcommittee met this week and discussed H3374.  This bill would  totally do away with the current LGF.  The W&M subcommittee voted to pass this bill out favorably.  The bill will now go before the full Ways and Means Committee possibly as early as this coming week.

S429(Workers Comp)- This bill was introduced by Senator Thurmond on Thursday.  It defines “First Responder” and gives situations to which a “First Responder” may seek Worker’ Comp for personal injury caused by stress or mental injury or illness.  The bill was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
